Fostering

Fostering saves lives! None of these rescue groups would exist without foster homes. Fostering dogs for rescue is a fantastic way to not only help the breed, but also, if you’ve never had a Dogue de Bordeaux before, learn if they are a good fit for your home and lifestyle.

Reputable rescue groups have a form for you to sign, basically that you will follow their rules and that any dog you foster for them is theirs, not yours unless you sign additional paperwork to adopt it. Reputable groups also cover all necessary vetting for dogs in their program which includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip and taking care of any health issues the dog may come into rescue with or develop while in rescue. They also often cover food, especially if it’s a prescription food and necessities that each dog may need and they may help you acquire through Wish Lists things like crates, collars, leashes and basic dog supplies that they may not cover. It’s up to you to supply love and structure to help the dog thrive and get it ready to be adopted.

We know that the Turner and Hooch TV series will have a negative impact on the breed like the movie did in the mid 90’s. We want to be ready, we want the rescue groups to be ready. Please, if you can open your home to a Dogue in need, please contact one or more rescue groups in your country to see how you can help.
