North American Breeders

This is NOT a list of recommended breeders – the kennels below test and publish results which is a great start. You still have to do your homework to find the right DDB for you!

The OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) created the Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) by partnering with participating parent clubs to research and maintain information on the health issues prevalent in specific breeds and to establish a recommended protocol for breed-specific health screenings. Dogs tested in accordance with that protocol are recognized with a CHIC number and certification. PLEASE BE AWARE … CHIC DOES NOT SIGNIFY A PASSING TEST BUT MERELY THE WILLINGNESS OF THE OWNER TO DO THE TESTING AS RECOMMENDED BY THE PARENT CLUB OF THAT BREED AND PUBLISH THE RESULTS.

  1. Breeders in the OFA database with dogues that qualify for the CHIC program by testing cardiac (board certified cardiologist), hips, elbows and shoulders.
